On July 4th, Brittney sent a handwritten letter to the White House, asking for President Joe Biden’s help in securing her release, according to CNN.
“I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in you,” she wrote in the letter to Biden. “I still have so much good to do with my freedom that you can help restore. I miss my wife! I miss my family! I miss my teammates! It kills me to know they are suffering so much right now. I am grateful for whatever you can do at this moment to get me home.”
Griner is still in Jail and last week the Phoenix Mercury star was officially sentenced to nine years in prison on drug charges. However, her defence team has now filed defence team files.
On November 17, Griner’s lawyers said that she was transferred to IK-2, a female penal colony in the town of Yavas in the region of Mordovia, previously she was held in an undisclosed location. On December 8, Griner was released by Russia in a 1-for-1 prisoner swap for “The Merchant of Death” arms dealer Viktor Bout.
