Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the game at the moment, while some fans would even argue that he is one of the greatest players to ever step on a court. Other than his well-known talents such as his giant wingspan, a towering jump and his shooting ability, it turns out that KD also has a hidden talent not many people know about – an eye for talent.
Durant’s hidden talent has now come into the spotlight after he claimed to be the one to spot Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The Canadian who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA will soon begin his third season in the NBA after being drafted in 2020, and is widely known as one of the most promising players in the league – and it is Durant who claims to have unearthed him.
The general consensus on Gilgeous-Alexander when he was playing college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats was that he would never be an All Star, but that notion is edging towards being proven wrong with every passing day. And as it turns out, it was none other than the Brooklyn Nets superstar who knew Gilgeous-Alexander’s talent from the very beginning.
What did Kevin Durant say about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?
KD only had good things to say about “SGA” four years back when no one really knew him.
When Durant was featured on Bill Simmons’ podcast all the way back in 2018, and he shouted out SGA for his mid range ability. “Shai Gilgeous”, Durant said: “We played against him early in the year and, man, he got the mid-range down. His mid-range is so good. He shoots it with the high release, so it’s hard to block at 6-foot-6 when the point guard’s guarding him.”
As it turns out, Gilgeous-Alexander has proved to be up to the billing, as he has taken over the mantle of the Thunder’s franchise player from none other than Durant himself. Durant acknowledged it with a tweet recently, as he wrote #Eyes after quoting a Ross Lovelace article about Durant’s comments back in 2018.
