Are the Los Angeles Lakers really pushing for a massive Kevin Durant trade?
With each passing day of the NBA 2022-23 season, the Los Angeles Lakers are growing desperate. Generally, in the NBA, teams either rebuild for the future or contend for the championship, the Lakers sadly are not doing any of the two given options either.
The Lakers are currently sitting with a record of 12-16, with several superstars on their team. Further, to make things difficult, the Lakers have three max contracts on their books. Given the current situation, the Lakers are not rebuilding, and certainly, they are not contending.
Time is of the essence and the Lakers must decide. They must choose an aim, either contend or rebuild.
To rebuild, the team must tank hard and trade their superstars or they can make one last push for the NBA championship by making a win-now move.
But thinking logically, it comes to this. Trading LeBron James is not an option. Also, an Anthony Davis trade is also equally difficult. So, in this year’s trade deadline, it looks like the Lakers will be the buyers.
What is the confirmation behind LA Lakers ‘buyers’ situation?
The LA Lakers ‘buyers’ situation is further confirmed by Lakers trade scenarios: What I’m hearing about Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley and more – The Athletic. He says that the Lakers are definitely the buyers for this season, but the logistics remain unsorted and complicated.
“In the ultimate pie-in-the-sky scenario, the Lakers have interest in Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, and Bradley Beal if any of the three stars were to become available.” according to Buha.
Buha further states that the Lakers do not have the essential package to land Durant, Lillard, and even Beal. The ambitious trade option is not possible for the Lakers even if the Lakers give away their two future first-round picks.
But all said and done, the Lakers are ultimately interested in landing a superstar like Kevin Durant.
It must be noted that the Lakers have little to offer in a trade package. Trading LeBron and Davis are out of the question, and the Lakers can just provide the future assets to make the trade.
However, there is no chance that a team like Brooklyn Nets will be interested in what the Lakers could offer. Right now, the Kevin Durant trade is likely a distant dream for the Lakers.
