Nick Chubb hails from Cedartown, Georgia and was a two-sport athlete in high school. He ran track and played football, leading the state of Georgia in rushing yards. He registered 6,983 rushing yards and 102 rushing touchdowns during his high school career. A four-star recruit, Chubb earned a scholarship to the University of Georgia and got play under Mark Richt.
Chubb started off as a backup to future NFL running back, Todd Gurley. After the latter’s suspension, Chubb took over the starting role and won Belk Bowl MVP honours in 2014. In his senior season, he reached the championship game against Alabama but was held to just 25 rushing yards in the 26-23 loss.
The Browns drafted him 35th overall, making the fourth running to be selected in his draft class. Chubb made his professional debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 season opener. He finished his rookie season with 192 carries for 996 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Nick Chubb got his name from his great grandfather who was one of eight brothers who founded Chubbtown, Georgia. It was a settlement of free blacks which endured through the American Civil War.
