Talented Italian Lorenzo Musetti locks horns with Brazil’s Felipe Meligeni Alves in the group stage of the 2023 United Cup.
Lorenzo Musetti
The youngster impressed tennis fans and critics alike in 2022 with his fine performance. He captured the first ATP tour-level title by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the 2022 Bad Homburg Open. Musetti did not stop there as he claimed his second ATP title by defeating fellow countryman Matteo Berrettini in the finals of the Tennis Napoli Cup.
Musetti did not have a great end to his season though as he was eliminated in the group stage of the Next Gen ATP Finals. During the season, Musetti won 34 matches and lost 29. He finished the year ranked 23 in the world.
Felipe Meligeni Alves
The 24-year-old is yet to win a singles title on the ATP Tour. However, in the doubles circuit, he has already clinched a couple of titles. His second doubles title came earlier in the year at the 2022 Chile Open alongside Rafael Matos.
He has just played four matches on hard courts this year and has not been able to win a set. Meligeni Alves will have to bring his A-game and pounce on any opportunity that comes his way. Things could go from bad to worse in the blink of an eye if he loses focus against one of the most talented youngsters on the ATP circuit.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.
Prediction: Lorenzo Musetti to win in straight sets.
