Qualifier Marc-Andrea Huesler and Laslo Djere will face each other in the semifinals of the Winston-Salem Open.
Marc-Andre Huesler
The Swiss tennis pro has played some good tennis to reach the semifinals of the Winston-Salem Open. He has won two Challenger tournaments this year, but this is the furthest he has reached in an ATP Masters event.
The 26-year-old played two qualifying matches against Matthew Ebden and Shintaro Mochizuki and won both of them with relative ease. In the first round, Huesler faced Mikael Ymer and defeated the Swedish tennis pro in straight sets. In the round of 16, he faced defending champion Ilya Ivashka. Huesler had to dig deep to get the win in three sets. In the quarterfinal, Huesler defeated Jack Draper in straight sets to set up a clash with Laslo Djere.
Laslo Djere
This is the second semi-final appearance in a competition for Laslo Djere in 2022. He reached the semi-final stage of the Grand Prix Hassan II tournament before losing to Alex Molcan.
The 27-year-old has had to fight hard in all his matches in the Winston-Salem Open. All of his matches have been decided in the third set. He started his campaign against the Belgian No. 1 David Goffin and did well to get the win over a fancied opponent. Djere followed it up with wins against Jason Kubler and Richard Gasquet to make it to the semi-final.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
Laslo Djere has a 1-0 lead in the head-to-head scoreline. Marc-Andrea Huesler has been in good form and will hope to level the score.
Prediction: Laslo Djere to win in three sets.
